There's nothing harder in a mom's life than realizing her son is growing up into a man. But for Dad? He's more than happy to help his son become and smell like a man with Old Spice. Sing along with the ups and downs from a mother's and father's perspective.
iSpot Review - June 30, 2015
Old Spice has a history of putting out commercials that
often leave you confused, laughing, or a healthy mix of both. But one thing is
for sure about Old Spice ads, and it's that you'll be sure to remember what you
just saw. The "Mom
Song" commercial was given to us by Old Spice last year, and although
bizarre and odd, the commercial was relatively successful. It covered how Old
Spice Body Spray has transformed their sweet sons into men, and how saddened
they were to see their sons grow up. But in this 60-second ad from Old Spice,
we finally get to hear the perspective from the father's side, and it's a
pretty stark contrast from the mother's side.
The "Dad Song" from Old Spice gives us a different perspective. Moms are crying and getting crushed by the thoughts of their son replacing the number one woman in their lives with another woman. Fathers are ecstatic and can't wait to turn that old bedroom into a storage room. Why sell your son's personal items and belongings at a garage sale when you can drive a lawn mower over them to make sure he doesn't come back. Mothers are too hesitant to let their sons leave, fathers on the other hand are all too happy to see their son go out the door. But what really makes the "Dad Song" so successful isn't the bizarre or even downright crazy acts we see, but how both the mother and father can sing the same lyrics to a song and have completely different meanings. It's nice to see that balance, because if there wasn't one, it'd be pretty awkward to see both your parents sewn into the chairs you were just sitting in. Just a tad.
