Dove's Self Esteem Project presents a short film in reverse, following the journey of a girl's social media post from its end product as a glamorous selfie racking up likes and positive comments back to its origins. Time moves backward, revealing all the adjustments to her face made in a photo editing app on top of the makeup she already put on. The rewind pauses to take in her somber pre-selfie demeanor, with Dove chiming in to say that the social media pressure hurting girls' self esteem has been made worse because of more screen time during the pandemic. Declaring its goal to "change beauty," the skin and hair care company encourages you to initiate "the selfie talk" to counteract those effects.
