The year is 1963, and America is engaged in a dire race for scientific innovation spurred on by the Cold War. Nowhere is this urgency more apparent than in a high-security government laboratory in which a silent woman named Elisa works alongside Zelda as a custodian. Amid the day-to-day monotony of her job, Elisa discovers an aquatic creature inside a water tank. As the two begin to develop a bond, the scientists in charge of the facility try to keep their mysterious project under wraps.
