The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics says that one in six Americans become sick with food poisoning every year and offers some basic tips to try to prevent yourself from enduring the same sickness. The organization suggests washing your hands and prep surfaces, separating raw foods from ready-to-eat foods, cooking foods thoroughly and refrigerating perishables at a proper temperature.
