NBA player and Boston Celtics center Enes Kanter Freedom recalls his first time coming to America and hearing one of his teammate openly criticize the President. Fearful of the consequences for his teammate, Enes asked what he was doing and soon learned about freedom of speech in America. Using his newfound freedom to remark on the government back in his home country of Turkey, he still faced consequences such as having his passport revoked and being disowned. He values organizations like FIRE for protecting and education the first amendment, having seen the consequences of living in societies where those rights aren't protected.
